Installation Procedure

    NOTE:

    Ensure that the rear suspension cradle is securely attached to the jack/support stand.

    Raise the rear suspension cradle 6 - 8 inches from the vehicle and install available electrical connectors and retainers.

    Install the 2 CH-51034 - A  Cradle Alignment Pins (1) to align the rear cradle to the body.

    Rear Suspension Cradle Rear Bolt (1) - Install NEW and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Temporarily install the 2 OLD rear cradle front bolts (1).

  6. Remove the lift table from under the rear suspension cradle.

    Rear Suspension Bracket- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Install [2x]

  8. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  9. Rear Suspension Bracket Nut- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications

    Place the jack stand (1) under the rear differential carrier for support.

    NOTE:

    Position the block of wood (1) and the suitable jack stand (2) between the frame of the vehicle and the rear suspension bracket on the right side.

    • DO NOT raise the vehicle higher than necessary.

    Using the block of wood and the suitable jack stand (1), raise the vehicle just enough to reposition the hoist pad (2) from under the vehicle.

  15. Rear Suspension Cradle Front Bolt- Right Side (3) - Install NEW and hand tighten
  16. Rear Suspension Bracket Bolt- Right Side (4) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
  17. Rear Suspension Bracket Bolt- Right Side (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
  18. Rear Suspension Cradle Front Bolt (3)- Right Side - Tighten - Fastener Specifications

    DO NOT ATTEMPT OTHER REPAIRS WITH JACK STANDS IN PLACE.

    Reposition the hoist lift pad (2) back underneath the right side of the vehicle.

  20. Using the jack stand (1) and the block of wood, slowly lower the vehicle back on the hoist pad (2).

    Remove the jack stand (2) and the block of wood (1) from underneath the right side of vehicle.

    Position the block of wood (1) and the suitable jack stand (2) between the frame of the vehicle and the rear suspension bracket on the left side.

    Reposition the hoist lift pad (2) back underneath the vehicle.

  31. Using the jack stand (1) and the block of wood, slowly lower the vehicle back on the hoist pad (2).

    Rear Suspension Lower Control Arm Inner Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (3) - Install NEW [2x]

  37. NOTE:

    The final torque on the rear suspension lower control arm inner nut (1) is to be applied during the rear camber setting procedure.

    • Correctly orient the rear coil spring as noted upon removal of the rear suspension lower control arm.

    Rear Coil Spring- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Install [2x]

  40. Support the rear suspension lower control arms (2) with an appropriate jack stands.
  41. Slowly lower the vehicle to apply tension on the rear coil springs (1) and rotate the rear suspension lower control arms (2) and align the rear suspension lower control arms (2) with the rear suspension knuckles.

    Rear Suspension Lower Control Arm Outer Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (3) - Install NEW [2x]

  43. Using the jack stands, raise the rear lower control arms enough to aid in the installation of the of the rear suspension lower control arm outer bolts.

  45. Rear Suspension Lower Control Arm Outer Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (3) - Tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Rear Shock Absorber Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (2) @ Rear Suspension Lower Control Arm (3) - Install NEW and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

  47. Remove the jack stands from beneath the rear suspension lower control arms.

  49. Install the 8 left and right side rear spring pins (1).

    Install the left and right side rear brake caliper and brackets (2).

  51. Prepare the 4 left and right side rear caliper bracket bolts (1) for installation as follows:
    1. Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the components using a lint free cloth.
    2. Thread the cleaned components into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
    3. Apply thread locking adhesive to the external threads of the components. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
    4. Ensure there are no gaps in the thread locking adhesive once applied to the component.
  52. Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications

    Rear Wheel Speed Sensor- Left Side and Right Side (2) @ Rear Suspension Knuckle - Install [2x]

  54. Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (1) @ Rear Suspension Knuckle - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Apply a thin layer of grease to the transmission output shaft splines (1). Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

  56. Loosely install a NEW propeller shaft hub clamp (3) to the propeller shaft joint boot.
  57. Support and secure the propeller shaft (2) to a suitable hydraulic jack stand.
  58. Propeller Shaft (2) - Install

    Prepare the 2 propeller shaft bearing support bolts (1) for installation as follows:

    1. Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the components using a lint free cloth.
    2. Thread the cleaned components into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
    3. Apply thread locking adhesive to the external threads of the components. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
    4. Ensure there are no gaps in the thread locking adhesive once applied to the component.
  60. Propeller Shaft Bearing Support Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
  61. Remove the hydraulic jack stand supporting the propeller shaft.

    Prepare the 3 rear propeller shaft bolts (1) and nuts (3) for installation as follows:

    1. Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the components using a lint free cloth.
    2. Thread the cleaned components into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
    3. Apply thread locking adhesive to the external threads of the components. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
    4. Ensure there are no gaps in the thread locking adhesive once applied to the component.
  63. Align the relationship marks (2) made on the propeller shaft and the rear differential flange.
  64. Rear Propeller Shaft Bolt (1) - Install [3x]
  65. Rear Propeller Shaft Nut (3) - Loosely install [3x]
  66. Rear Propeller Shaft Bolt (1) - Tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications

  68. Ensure that the drive shaft boot is completely seated in the output shaft groove prior to crimping the propeller shaft hub clamp (2).
  69. Using the DT-35910  Drive Axle Seal Clamp Pliers (1), crimp the propeller shaft hub clamp (2) until the final crimped outer diameter (a) is 39 - 41 mm (1.54 - 1.61 in).

    Transmission Mount (2) - Install

  71. NOTE:

    For proper bolt alignment, loosely install all mount bolts prior to tightening to specifications.

    Rear Tire Front Air Deflector- Left Side (2) - Install

  102. Rear Tire Front Air Deflector Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications 
  103. Install the rear tire and wheel assemblies. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
  104. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
  105. Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  106. Calibrate the park brake.
    1. Block the drive wheels.
    2. Install a scan tool to the vehicle.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON/RUN position with the engine OFF.
    4. Select Configuration/Reset Functions from the Brake System Control Module.
    5. If available, perform the Parking Brake Calibration Procedure.
    6. If Park Brake Calibration is not available, proceed back and select Control Functions.
    7. Perform the Deactivate Rear Park Brake Service Position function.
    8. Apply and release the park brakes using the park brake switch to ensure that the system is functioning.
  107. Inspect the exhaust system for leaks.
  108. Perform wheel alignment. Wheel Alignment Measurement
