Installation Procedure

    Front Stabilizer Shaft (3) - Install

  2. Front Stabilizer Shaft Clamp (2) - Install [2x]
  3. NOTE:

    The 4 front stabilizer shaft insulator clamp nuts (1) are to be tightened with the vehicle at ride height.

  4. Front Stabilizer Shaft Insulator Clamp Nut (1) - Loosely install [4x]

    CAUTION:

    Phenolic spacer must be present to prevent galvanic/corrosive reaction and/or excessive temperature conduction between engine mount bracket and engine mount. Replace mount if phenolic spacer is missing or damaged. Failure to ensure phenolic spacer is intact and not damaged can lead to premature failure of engine mount and/or engine mount bracket.

    Inspect each engine mount to ensure the phenolic spacer (1) is in place and not damaged.

    With the aid of an assistant, carefully lower the body onto the drivetrain and front suspension cradle (3).

  7. Install the harness retainers to the drivetrain and front suspension cradle.
  8. Ensure the following components are clear from the drivetrain and front suspension cradle:
    • Vacuum lines
    • Steering knuckles
    • Electrical wiring harnesses
    • Oil cooler lines
  9. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution

    CAUTION:

    Use caution when removing components surrounding the Steering Gear Boots. Avoid tool contact with the steering gear boot and clamps. Damage to the steering gear boot may lead to dirt and water contamination in the steering gear rack and components requiring a preventable replacement of the Steering Gear and its Components.

  10. Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Rear Bolt (2) - Install NEW and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications 
  11. CAUTION:

    Use caution when removing components surrounding the Steering Gear Boots. Avoid tool contact with the steering gear boot and clamps. Damage to the steering gear boot may lead to dirt and water contamination in the steering gear rack and components requiring a preventable replacement of the Steering Gear and its Components.

  12. Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Front Bolt (1) - Install NEW and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications 
  13. Remove the EN-39580  Engine Support Stand from under the vehicle.
  14. Remove the engine support fixture:

    Connect the electrical connectors (1) to the engine mounts.

    Engine Mount Nut-Left Side (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Engine Mount Nut-Right Side (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Electric Belt Drive Rack and Pinion Steering Gear (3) - Install

  19. CAUTION:

    This vehicle is equipped with torque-to-yield or single use fasteners. Install a NEW torque-to-yield or single use fastener when installing this component. Failure to replace the torque-to-yield or single use fastener could cause damage to the vehicle or component.

  20. Steering Gear Bolt (2) - Install NEW [2x]
  21. Steering Gear Nut (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Connect the steering gear electrical connectors. (1)

    Install the intermediate steering shaft at the steering gear.

  24. If a NEW threaded component is being installed, loosen the adhesive using a metal pick or similar tool before proceeding. If threaded component is reused, prepare the threaded component using the following steps:
    1. Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the component using a lint free cloth.
    2. Thread the cleaned component into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
    3. Apply thread locking adhesive to the external threads of the component. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
    4. Ensure there are no gaps in the thread locking adhesive once applied to the component.
  25. Intermediate Steering Shaft Lower Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
  26. Remove the device preventing the steering column from rotating.

    Front Crossmember Brace-Left Side (3) - Install

  28. Front Crossmember Brace Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications 
  29. Front Crossmember Brace Nut (2) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Front Wheelhouse Liner Retainer (1) @ Front Wheelhouse Liner (2) - Install

    Front Crossmember Brace-Right Side (3) - Install

  32. Front Crossmember Brace Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications 
  33. Front Crossmember Brace Nut (2) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Front Wheelhouse Liner Retainer (2) @ Front Wheelhouse Liner (1) - Install

    { If equipped } Front Crossmember Brace (2) - Install

  36. { If equipped } Front Crossmember Brace Nut (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications 
  37. Remove the support on the radiator.

    NOTE:

    Stabilizer Shaft Link Nut- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Loosely install [2x]

    CAUTION:

    Ensure the Outer Tie Rod Boot is not twisted or deformed during assembly. If the boot is twisted or deformed, damage to the boot will occur.

    NOTE:

    Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Install [2x]

  40. Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Nut- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Front Lower Control Front Link- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Install [2x]

    CAUTION:

    Front Lower Control Arm Front Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Install NEW [2x]

  43. Front Lower Control Arm Front Nut- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Install [2x]
  44. Front Lower Control Arm Front Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    NOTE:

    Install the front lower control front link to the steering knuckle on the left and right side.

  46. Front Lower Control Arm Ball Stud Nut- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Front Lower Control Rear Link- Left Side and Right Side (3) - Install [2x]

  48. CAUTION:

    This vehicle is equipped with torque-to-yield or single use fasteners. Install a NEW torque-to-yield or single use fastener when installing this component. Failure to replace the torque-to-yield or single use fastener could cause damage to the vehicle or component.

  49. Front Lower Control Arm Rear Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Install NEW [2x]
  50. Front Lower Control Arm Rear Nut- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Install [2x]
  51. Front Lower Control Arm Rear Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    NOTE:

    Install the front lower control rear link to the steering knuckle on the left and right side.

  53. Front Lower Control Arm Ball Stud Nut- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Stabilizer Shaft Link Nut- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

  55. Install the front tire and wheel assemblies. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation

    With the vehicle at ride height, tighten the 4 front stabilizer shaft insulator clamp nuts (1). Fastener Specifications

    Front Compartment Air Deflector (2) - Install

  60. Engine Front Splash Shield Retainer (2) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Front Bumper Fascia Center Air Deflector (1) - Install

    Front Bumper Fascia Center Air Deflector Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [10x] - Fastener Specifications

    Front Bumper Fascia Center Air Deflector Screw (1) - Install and tighten [6x] - Fastener Specifications

  68. Front Bumper Fascia Center Air Deflector Bolt (2) - Install and tighten [5x] - Fastener Specifications
  69. Front Bumper Fascia Center Air Deflector Retainer (3) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
  70. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
