Draining Procedure (Engine Auxiliary Radiator)

NOTE:

The following procedure is only necessary when servicing the engine auxiliary radiator or when a complete system drain and fill is required.

  1. Perform the engine radiator draining procedure as outlined above.
  2. Remove the right front tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation

    • Quantity of fasteners may vary based on option content.
    • Left side shown, right side similar.

    Front Tire Front Air Deflector Bolt- Right Side (1) - Remove [4x]

  4. Front Tire Front Air Deflector- Right Side (2) - Remove

    Front Bumper Fascia Air Deflector Bolt- Right Side (1) - Remove [3x]

  6. Front Bumper Fascia Bolt- Right Side (2) - Remove [2x]

    Engine Front Splash Shield Retainer- Right Side (3) - Remove [2x]

  8. Engine Front Splash Shield Bolt- Right Side (1) - Remove [5x]
  9. Engine Front Splash Shield- Right Side (2) - Remove

    Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt- Right Side (1) - Remove [6x]

  11. Front Wheelhouse Liner Retainer- Right Side (2) - Remove
  12. Front Wheelhouse Liner- Right Side (3) - Reposition

    Auxiliary Radiator Duct Retainer (1) - Remove [3x]

  14. GM5470179

    Auxiliary Radiator Rear Duct (1) - Remove

  15. Remove the front bumper fascia. Front Bumper Fascia Removal and Installation (without Blackwing) , or Front Bumper Fascia Removal and Installation (with Blackwing) , or Front Bumper Fascia Removal and Installation (with Blackwing CFV, CFZ)

    Auxiliary Radiator Duct Retainer (1) - Remove [3x]

    Auxiliary Radiator Duct Retainer (1) - Remove [2x]

    Auxiliary Radiator Front Duct (1) - Remove

    Using an appropriate tool, disengage the radiator inlet hose retainer (1).

  20. Radiator Inlet Hose (2) - Remove

    Radiator Outlet Hose Clip (3) - Remove

  22. Using an appropriate tool, disengage the radiator outlet hose retainer (2).
  23. Radiator Outlet Hose (1) @ Engine Auxiliary Radiator - Remove

    Charge Air Cooler Bracket Bolt (1) - Remove [3x]

  25. Charge Air Cooler Upper Bracket Nut (2) - Loosen

    Remove the engine auxiliary radiator assembly (1) from the vehicle.

  27. Invert the engine auxiliary radiator assembly (1) pouring the contents into a drain pan.

    Install the engine auxiliary radiator assembly (1) to the vehicle.

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution

    Charge Air Cooler Bracket Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications

  30. Charge Air Cooler Upper Bracket Nut (2) - Tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Install the radiator outlet hose retainer (2) into the radiator outlet hose connector.

  32. Install the radiator outlet hose (1) to the engine auxiliary radiator ensuring that the radiator outlet hose retainer (3) is fully engaged.
  33. Radiator Outlet Hose Clip (3) - Install

    Install the radiator inlet hose retainer (1) into the radiator inlet hose connector.

  35. Radiator Inlet Hose (2) - Install
  36. Install the radiator inlet hose (2) to the engine auxiliary radiator ensuring that the radiator inlet hose retainer (1) is fully engaged.

    Auxiliary Radiator Front Duct (1) - Install

    Auxiliary Radiator Duct Retainer (1) - Install [2x]

    Auxiliary Radiator Duct Retainer (1) - Install [3x]

  40. Install the front bumper fascia. Front Bumper Fascia Removal and Installation (without Blackwing) , or Front Bumper Fascia Removal and Installation (with Blackwing) , or Front Bumper Fascia Removal and Installation (with Blackwing CFV, CFZ)

    Auxiliary Radiator Rear Duct (1) - Install

    Auxiliary Radiator Duct Retainer (1) - Install [3x]

    Front Wheelhouse Liner- Right Side (3) - Move into position

  44. Front Wheelhouse Liner Retainer- Right Side (2) - Install
  45. Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt- Right Side (1) - Install and tighten [6x] - Fastener Specifications

    Front Bumper Fascia Air Deflector Bolt- Right Side (1) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications

  47. Front Bumper Fascia Bolt- Right Side (2) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Engine Front Splash Shield- Right Side (2) - Install

  49. Engine Front Splash Shield Retainer- Right Side (3) - Install [2x]
  50. Engine Front Splash Shield Bolt- Right Side (1) - Install and tighten [5x] - Fastener Specifications

    Front Tire Front Air Deflector- Right Side (2) - Install

  52. Front Tire Front Air Deflector Bolt- Right Side (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications
  53. Install the right front tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
  54. Continue with the vac-n-fill and air removal procedure below.
