Draining Procedure (Charge Air Cooler - Right Side)

    NOTE:

    The following procedure is only necessary when servicing the right side charge air cooler which is part of the main engine cooling system loop or a complete system drain and fill is required.

  1. Perform the engine radiator draining procedure as outlined above.

    Front Bumper Fascia Air Deflector Bolt- Right Side (1) - Remove [4x]

  3. Front Bumper Fascia Air Deflector- Outer (2) - Remove
  4. Remove the right front tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation

    • Quantity of fasteners may vary based on option content.
    • Some components not shown for graphic clarity.

    Engine Front Splash Shield Retainer- Right Side (2) - Remove

  6. Engine Front Splash Shield Bolt- Right Side (1) - Remove [4x]
  7. Engine Front Splash Shield (3) - Remove

    Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt- Right Side (1) - Remove [4x]

  9. Front Wheelhouse Liner Retainer- Right Side (2) - Remove
  10. Front Wheelhouse Liner (3) - Reposition

    Auxiliary Radiator Duct Retainer- Right Side (1) - Remove [3x]

    Auxiliary Radiator Rear Duct- Right Side (1) - Remove

    Front Bumper Fascia (1) - Remove - Front Bumper Fascia Removal and Installation (without Blackwing) , or Front Bumper Fascia Removal and Installation (with Blackwing) , or Front Bumper Fascia Removal and Installation (with Blackwing CFV, CFZ)

    Auxiliary Radiator Duct Retainer- Right Side (1) - Remove [3x]

  15. GM5454427

    Auxiliary Radiator Duct Retainer- Right Side (1) - Remove [2x]

  16. GM5420756

    {With UGN} Forward Range Radar Bracket (2) - Remove

    1. Forward Range Radar Bracket Bolt (1) - Remove [3x]
      2. NOTE:

      Forward range radar sensor will be with the bracket.

    2. Forward Range Radar Bracket (2) - Remove
    3. Disconnect the electrical connector.

    Auxiliary Radiator Front Inlet Duct Retainer- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Remove [6x]

    Auxiliary Radiator Front Inlet Duct- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Reposition [2x]

  19. Transmission Fluid Auxiliary Cooler Bracket Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Remove [2x]

    Horn Bolt (1)- Left Side and Right Side - Remove [2x]

  21. Horn- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Reposition [2x]

    Reposition the wiring harness.

  23. Front Bumper Impact Bar Bolt (1) - Remove [8x]
  24. Front Bumper Impact Bar (2) - Remove

    Auxiliary Radiator Front Duct- Right Side (1) - Remove

    Using an appropriate tool, remove the auxiliary radiator inlet hose retainer (1) from the auxiliary radiator inlet hose connector at the right side charge air cooler.

  27. Remove the auxiliary radiator inlet hose (2) from the right side charge air cooler.

    Radiator Outlet Hose Clip (1) - Remove

  29. Using an appropriate tool, remove the radiator outlet hose retainer (3) from the radiator outlet hose connector at the right side charge air cooler.
  30. Remove the radiator outlet hose (2) from the right side charge air cooler.

    Charge Air Cooler Bracket Bolt (1) - Remove [3x]

  32. Charge Air Cooler Upper Bracket Nut (2) - Loosen

    Remove the right side charge air cooler assembly (1) from the vehicle.

  34. Invert the charge air cooler (1) and allow the coolant to completely drain into a drain pan.

    Install the right side charge air cooler assembly (1) to the vehicle.

    Charge Air Cooler Bracket Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications

  37. Charge Air Cooler Upper Bracket Nut (2) - Tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Install the radiator outlet hose retainer (3) to the radiator outlet hose connector at the right side charge air cooler.

  39. Install the radiator outlet hose (2) to the right side charge air cooler.
  40. Radiator Outlet Hose Clip (1) - Install

    Install the auxiliary radiator inlet hose retainer (1) to the auxiliary radiator inlet hose connector at the right side charge air cooler.

  42. Install the auxiliary radiator inlet hose (2) to the right side charge air cooler.

    Auxiliary Radiator Front Duct (1) - Install

    Front Bumper Impact Bar (2) - Install

  45. Front Bumper Impact Bar Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [8x] - Fastener Specifications
  46. Install the wiring harness.

    Horn- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Install [2x]

  48. Horn Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Transmission Fluid Auxiliary Cooler Bracket Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

  50. Auxiliary Radiator Front Inlet Duct- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Install [2x]

    {With UGN} Forward Range Radar Bracket (2) - Install

    1. Forward Range Radar Bracket Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications
    2. Connect the electrical connector.

    Auxiliary Radiator Duct Retainer- Right Side (1) - Install [2x]

    Auxiliary Radiator Duct Retainer- Right Side (1) - Install [3x]

    Front Bumper Fascia (1) - Install - Front Bumper Fascia Removal and Installation (without Blackwing) , or Front Bumper Fascia Removal and Installation (with Blackwing) , or Front Bumper Fascia Removal and Installation (with Blackwing CFV, CFZ)

    Auxiliary Radiator Rear Duct- Right Side (1) - Install

    Auxiliary Radiator Duct Retainer- Right Side (1) - Install [3x]

    Front Wheelhouse Liner- Right Side (3) - Move into position

  58. Front Wheelhouse Liner Retainer- Right Side (2) - Install
  59. Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt- Right Side (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications

    Engine Front Splash Shield- Right Side (3) - Install

  61. Engine Front Splash Shield Bolt- Right Side (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications
  62. Engine Front Splash Shield Retainer- Right Side (2) - Install
  63. Install the right front tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation

    Front Bumper Fascia Air Deflector- Outer (2) - Install

  65. Front Bumper Fascia Air Deflector Bolt- Right Side (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications

    Front Bumper Fascia Lower Reinforcement- Right Side (2) - Install

  67. Front Bumper Fascia Air Deflector Bolt- Right Side (1) - Install and tighten [6x] - Fastener Specifications

    Front Bumper Fascia Air Deflector Bolt- Right Side (3) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications

  69. Front Bumper Fascia Lower Stiffener Bolt- Right Side (2) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
  70. Front Bumper Fascia Bolt- Right Side (1) - Install and tighten [6x] - Fastener Specifications
  71. Lower the vehicle.
  72. Continue with the Vac-N-Fill procedure below.
