Draining Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2022 Cadillac CT4. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
    WARNING:

    To avoid being burned, do not remove the radiator cap or surge tank cap while the engine is hot. The cooling system will release scalding fluid and steam under pressure if radiator cap or surge tank cap is removed while the engine and radiator are still hot.

    NOTE:

    Make sure the charge air cooling system is cool and that the pump is not activated.

  1. Oil Filler Cap - Remove
  2. GM5839283

    Intake Manifold Cover Bolt (1) - Remove

  3. Intake Manifold Cover (2) - Remove
  4. Install the oil filler cap after removal of the intake manifold cover to prevent debris from falling into the engine.

    Intake Manifold Vacuum Fitting Cap (1) - Remove

    Rotate the intake manifold vacuum fitting (1) 90 degrees counterclockwise.

  7. GM5908746

    Place an absorbent shop cloth around the intake manifold vacuum fitting (2) to capture any coolant loss.

  8. Install the GE-47716-30A  Vac-N-Fill Adapter (1) to the intake manifold vacuum fitting (2) to allow the system to vent.
  9. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
  10. Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle

    Front Bumper Fascia Bolt- Left Side (1) - Remove [6x]

  12. Front Bumper Fascia Lower Stiffener Bolt- Left Side (2) - Remove
  13. Front Bumper Fascia Air Deflector Bolt- Left Side (3) - Remove [4x]

    Front Bumper Fascia Air Deflector Bolt- Left Side (1) - Remove [6x]

  15. Front Bumper Fascia Lower Reinforcement- Left Side (2) - Remove

    Front Bumper Fascia Air Deflector Bolt- Left Side (1) - Remove [4x]

  17. Front Bumper Fascia Air Deflector- Outer (2) - Remove
  18. Remove the left front tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation

    Engine Front Splash Shield Retainer- Left Side (2) - Remove

  20. Engine Front Splash Shield Bolt- Left Side (1) - Remove [4x]
  21. Engine Front Splash Shield- Left Side (3) - Remove

    Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]

  23. Front Wheelhouse Liner Retainer (2) - Remove
  24. Front Wheelhouse Liner (3) - Reposition

    Auxiliary Radiator Duct Retainer- Left Side (1) - Remove [3x]

    Auxiliary Radiator Rear Duct- Left Side (1) - Remove

    Front Bumper Fascia (1) - Remove - Front Bumper Fascia Removal and Installation (without Blackwing) , or Front Bumper Fascia Removal and Installation (with Blackwing) , or Front Bumper Fascia Removal and Installation (with Blackwing CFV, CFZ)

    Auxiliary Radiator Duct Retainer- Left Side (1) - Remove [3x]

    Auxiliary Radiator Duct Retainer- Left Side (1) - Remove [2x]

    {With UGN} Forward Range Radar Bracket (2) - Remove

    1. Forward Range Radar Bracket Bolt (1) - Remove [3x]
      2. NOTE:

      Forward range radar sensor will be removed with the bracket.

    2. Forward Range Radar Bracket (2) - Remove
    3. Disconnect the electrical connector.

    Auxiliary Radiator Front Inlet Duct Retainer- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Remove [6x]

    Auxiliary Radiator Front Inlet Duct- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Reposition [2x]

  33. Transmission Fluid Auxiliary Cooler Bracket Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Remove [2x]

    Horn Bolt (1)- Left Side and Right Side - Remove [2x]

  35. Horn- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Reposition [2x]

    Reposition the wiring harness.

  37. Front Bumper Impact Bar Bolt (1) - Remove [8x]
  38. Front Bumper Impact Bar (2) - Remove

    Auxiliary Radiator Front Duct- Left Side (1) - Remove

    Using an appropriate tool, remove the auxiliary radiator outlet hose retainer (1) from the auxiliary radiator outlet hose connector at the left side charge air cooler.

  41. Remove the auxiliary radiator outlet hose (2) from the left side charge air cooler.
  42. Rotate hose downward into a drain pan allowing the engine radiator to drain.

    Radiator Outlet Hose Clip (3) - Remove

  44. Using an appropriate tool, remove the retainer (1) from the auxiliary water pump outlet upper hose connector at the left side charge air cooler.
  45. Remove the auxiliary water pump outlet upper hose (2) from the left side charge air cooler.
  46. Drain any remaining coolant into the drain pan.

    Charge Air Cooler Upper Bracket Nut (1) - Loosen

  48. Charge Air Cooler Bracket Bolt (2) - Remove [3x]

    Remove the left side charge air cooler assembly (1) from the vehicle.

  50. Invert the left side charge air cooler (1) and allow the remaining coolant to drain into the drain pan.

    Install the left side charge air cooler assembly (1) to the vehicle.

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

    Charge Air Cooler Bracket Bolt (2) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications

  53. Charge Air Cooler Upper Bracket Nut (1) - Tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Install the retainer (1) into the auxiliary water pump outlet upper hose connector.

  55. Install the auxiliary water pump outlet upper hose (2) to the left side charge air cooler ensuring that the retainer (1) is fully engaged.
  56. Radiator Outlet Hose Clip (3) - Install

    Install the retainer (1) into the auxiliary radiator outlet hose connector.

  58. Install the auxiliary radiator outlet hose (2) to the left side charge air cooler ensuring that the retainer (1) is fully engaged.

    Auxiliary Radiator Front Duct- Left Side (1) - Install

    Front Bumper Impact Bar (2) - Install

  61. Front Bumper Impact Bar Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [8x] - Fastener Specifications
  62. Install the wiring harness.

    Horn- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Install [2x]

  64. Horn Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Transmission Fluid Auxiliary Cooler Bracket Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

  66. Auxiliary Radiator Front Inlet Duct- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Install [2x]

    {With UGN} Forward Range Radar Bracket (2) - Install

    1. Forward Range Radar Bracket Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications
    2. Connect the electrical connector.

  75. Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications

    Engine Front Splash Shield- Left Side (3) - Install

  77. Engine Front Splash Shield Bolt- Left Side (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications
  78. Engine Front Splash Shield Retainer- Left Side (2) - Install
  79. Install the left front tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation

  81. Front Bumper Fascia Air Deflector Bolt- Left Side (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications

  83. Front Bumper Fascia Air Deflector Bolt- Left Side (1) - Install and tighten [6x] - Fastener Specifications

  85. Front Bumper Fascia Lower Stiffener Bolt- Left Side (2) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
  86. Front Bumper Fascia Bolt- Left Side (1) - Install and tighten [6x] - Fastener Specifications
  87. Lower the vehicle.
