Installation Procedure

Front Brake Caliper Spring (3) - Install NEW [2x]
- Front Disc Brake Pad- Inner (2) - Install
- Front Disc Brake Pad- Outer (1) - Install
Front Disc Brake Pad Retaining Spring (2) - Install NEW [2x]
- Place a block of wood or old brake pad into the caliper body in installed position in front of the caliper piston.
- Place a large C-clamp over the brake caliper body and against the block of wood or brake pad.
- Using the C-clamp, carefully compress the brake caliper piston fully into the brake caliper bore.
- Remove the block of wood or old brake pad from the caliper.
- Rotate the brake caliper downward to its installed position. (1)
- CAUTION:NOTE:
Do NOT use air or power tools to remove or install the guide pin bolts. Use hand tools ONLY.
Front Brake Caliper Guide Pin Bolt- Lower (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
{If equipped} Front Disc Brake Pad Wear Sensor (2) @ Front Brake Caliper - Install
- Front Brake Caliper Bleeder Valve Cap (1) - Install
- Install the front tire and wheel assemblies. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
- Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
- Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
- With the engine OFF, gradually apply the brake pedal to approximately 2/3 of its travel distance.
- Slowly release the brake pedal.
- Wait 15 seconds, then repeat steps 14 - 15 until a firm brake pedal is obtained. This will properly seat the front brake caliper pistons and front disc brake pads.
- Fill the brake master cylinder reservoir to the maximum-full level with GM approved brake fluid from a clean, sealed brake fluid container. Brake Master Cylinder Reservoir Filling
- Burnish the brake pads and rotors.
- Select a smooth road with little or no traffic.
- Accelerate the vehicle to 48 km/h (30 mph).
- Using moderate to firm pressure, apply the brakes to bring the vehicle to a stop. Do not allow the brakes to lock.
- Repeat steps 18.2 and 18.3 until approximately 20 stops have been completed. Allow sufficient cooling periods between stops in order to properly burnish the brake pads and rotors.
NOTE:Use care to avoid overheating the brakes while performing this step.
