Circuit/System Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2022 Cadillac CT5. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

For an overview of the component/system, refer to: Supplemental Inflatable Restraint System Description and Operation

The F114D Instrument Panel Lower Airbag - Driver and F114P Instrument Panel Lower Airbag - Passenger are single stage inflators located on the driver and passenger side of the instrument panel respectively. The F114 Instrument Panel Lower Airbags contain a housing, inflating device, a canister of gas generating material and, in some cases, stored compressed gas. The deployment loop has a high control circuit that will supply voltage to deploy the airbag and a low control circuit that will supply ground to deploy the airbag. The F114D Instrument Panel Lower Airbag - Driver uses circuit 3078 as high control and circuit 3079 as low control. The F114P Instrument Panel Lower Airbag - Passenger uses circuit 3076 as high control and circuit 3077 as low control. Based on inputs from the impact sensors, the K36 Restraints Control Module will command deployment of the F114 Instrument Panel Lower Airbags by simultaneously applying voltage to the high control circuit, and ground to the low control circuit.
