Installation Procedure

    NOTE:

    Install the seal onto the tool before installing into the case to prevent damage to the seal.

    Using the J-44765  Seal Installer (2), install the NEW main shaft rear seal (1).

    Install the propeller shaft transmission yoke (1) to the transmission output shaft.

    Propeller Shaft Transmission Yoke Washer (2) - Install NEW

  4. Install the DT-45012  Holding Fixture (4) to the propeller shaft transmission yoke (3).
    5. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  5. While holding DT-45012  Holding Fixture (4), install a NEW propeller shaft transmission yoke nut (1) using an appropriate socket, tighten the NEW propeller shaft transmission yoke nut. Fastener Specifications
  6. Remove the DT-45012  Holding Fixture (4) from the propeller shaft transmission yoke (3).

    Propeller Shaft (1) - Install

    If NEW threaded components are being installed, loosen the adhesive using a metal pick or similar tool before proceeding. If threaded components are reused, prepare the threaded components using the following steps:

    1. Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the components using a lint free cloth.
    2. Thread the cleaned components into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
    3. Apply thread locking adhesive to the external threads of the components. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
    4. Ensure there are no gaps in the thread locking adhesive once applied to the component.
  9. Install the 2 propeller shaft bearing support bolts (1) and tighten. Fastener Specifications

    Align the reference mark (3) between the propeller shaft flange (1) and the rear axle pinion flange (2).

  12. Install the 3 rear propeller shaft nuts (2) and 3 rear propeller shaft bolts (1).
  13. Tighten the 3 rear propeller shaft bolts (1). Fastener Specifications

    Align the reference mark (2) between the propeller shaft flange (3) and the output flange (1) of the transmission.

  16. Install the 3 front propeller shaft nuts (1) and the 3 front propeller shaft bolts (2).
  17. Tighten the 3 front propeller shaft bolts (1). Fastener Specifications

    Floor Panel Number 2 Cross Bar Reinforcement (2) - Install

  19. Floor Panel Number 2 Cross Bar Reinforcement Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications

    Exhaust Intermediate Underbody Heat Shield (2) - Install

  21. Exhaust Heat Shield Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Catalytic Converter Gasket (2) - Install NEW

  23. With the aid of an assistant, install the exhaust muffler (1).

    Exhaust Muffler Hanger Bracket Nut (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications

    Electrical Connector (1) - Connect

    Exhaust Muffler (1) @ Exhaust Intermediate Pipe Insulator-Right Side (2) - Install [2x]

    Underbody Rear Air Deflector- Left Side (5) - Install

  34. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Nut- Left Side (4) - Install and tighten [2x][2x] - Fastener Specifications
  35. Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe Bracket Bolt- Left Side (3) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
  36. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Nut- Left Side (2) - Install and tighten [5x] - Fastener Specifications
  37. Underbody Front Air Deflector Bolt- Left Side (1) - Install and tighten [6x] - Fastener Specifications

    Underbody Rear Air Deflector- Right Side (5) - Install

  39. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Nut- Right Side (4) - Install and tighten [2x][2x] - Fastener Specifications
  40. Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe Bracket Bolt- Right Side (3) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
  41. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Nut- Right Side (2) - Install and tighten [5x] - Fastener Specifications
  42. Underbody Front Air Deflector Bolt- Right Side (1) - Install and tighten [6x] - Fastener Specifications

    Underbody Rear Air Deflector- Right Side (5) - Install

  44. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Nut- Right Side (3) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications
  45. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Bolt- Right Side (2) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications
  46. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Nut- Right Side (4) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
  47. Rear Wheelhouse Liner Bolt- Right Side (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Underbody Rear Air Deflector- Left Side (5) - Install

  49. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Nut- Left Side (2) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications
  50. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Bolt- Left Side (3) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications
  51. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Nut- Left Side (4) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
  52. Rear Wheelhouse Liner Bolt- Left Side (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Rear Tire Front Air Deflector- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Install [2x]

  54. Rear Tire Front Air Deflector Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications
  55. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
  56. Inspect the exhaust system for leaks.
