Equivalent regional tools: Special Tools
Using the DT-8092 Universal Driver Handle (2) and J-39439-3 5th Gear Puller Adapter Bolts (3), install the reverse rail bushing (1).
Snap the transmission oil funnel into a NEW counter gear rear bearing.
- Using the DT-8092 Universal Driver Handle (2) and DT-48802 Bearing Installer (3), install the NEW counter gear rear bearing (4).
- Counter Gear Rear Bearing Retaining Ring (1) - Install NEW
- NOTE:
The bearing race (3) is part of the counter gear rear bearing (2). Always use a NEW counter gear rear bearing.
Using the J-39546 Bearing Race Installer and the DT-8092 Universal Driver Handle, install the NEW counter gear rear bearing (2) and race (3).
- Install the NEW main shaft bearing race retainer ring (1).
Using the DT-8092 Universal Driver Handle (2) and the DT-48074 Input and Output Shaft Seal Installer (3), install the NEW main shaft rear seal (1).
Apply sealer to the transmission oil drain plug. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
- Transmission Oil Drain Plug (1) - Install and tighten Fastener Specifications
- Manual Transmission Output Speed Sensor (2) - Install
- Manual Transmission Output Speed Sensor Bolt (3) - Install and tighten Fastener Specifications
- NOTE:
Ensure the O-ring is installed onto the manual transmission reverse gear blockout solenoid housing (2).
Manual Transmission Reverse Gear Blockout Solenoid Housing (2) - Install
- Manual Transmission Reverse Gear Blockout Solenoid Housing Bolt (1) - Install and tighten Fastener Specifications
Reverse Idler Gear Shaft (3) - Install
- Reverse Idler Gear Bearing (2) - Install
- Reverse Idler Gear (1) - Install
Reverse Idler Gear Shaft Bracket (1) - Install
- If NEW threaded components are being installed, loosen the adhesive using a metal pick or similar tool before proceeding. If threaded components are reused, prepare the threaded components using the following steps:
- Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the components using a lint free cloth.
- Thread the cleaned components into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
- Apply thread locking adhesive to the external threads of the components. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
- Ensure there are no gaps in the thread locking adhesive once applied to the component.
- Reverse Idler Gear Shaft Bracket Bolt (2) - Install and tighten [3x] Fastener Specifications
The plastic roller bearing cage and bearings are part of the counter gear rear bearing.
