Removal Procedure

The optional oil cooler is either an integral part of the radiator or a separate unit placed in front of the radiator. The cooler lines and hoses are serviceable.
- Remove Air Cleaner Assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
- Disconnect the oil cooler lines from the radiator. Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
- Remove the oil cooler hoses from the clip.
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Place a jack or utility stands at the rear of the vehicle.
- If equipped, remove the underbody skid shield. Refer to Underbody Skid Shield Replacement .
- If equipped, remove the steering gear skid shield. Refer to Steering Gear Skid Shield Replacement .
- Support the front differential carrier with a suitable adjustable jack.
- For 8.25 inch axle, remove the front axle right side nuts and the left side bolts.
- For 9.25 inch axle, remove the front differential carrier bracket nuts and bolts from the front differential carrier assembly.

- For the left side, refer to Front Differential Carrier Bracket Replacement - Left Side (9.25 HD Inch Axle)Front Differential Carrier Bracket Replacement - Left Side (8.25 Inch Axle) .
- Lower the differential carrier.
- Remove the oil cooler hose bracket bolt. (1)
- Remove the oil cooler hose adapter bolts. (1)
- Remove the oil cooler hose assembly (2). Discard the gasket (3).
- Inspect the fittings, connectors, and cooler hoses for damage or distortion.
