Rear Seat Back Bolster Replacement

WARNING:

Refer to SIR Warning .

WARNING:

Do not repair or replace the seat stitching or seams in the seat back trim cover with an internal mounted seat side airbag module. Replace the complete seat back trim cover from the OEM. Non-OEM seat stitching may cause improper airbag deployment which could result in personal injury.

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Remove the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Removal and Installation .
1 Rear Seat Back Cushion Bolster Nut
CAUTION:

Refer to Fastener Caution .


Tighten 
9 N.m (80 lb in)
2 Rear Seat Back Cushion Bolster

Procedure

  1. Unlock and slide the center tab retainer forward on the bolster.
  2. With access from I/B side, use pliers to squeeze retention tabs together while pulling rearward on upper bolster to release from sheet metal.
  3. Slide the lock slider mechanism forward in vehicle to retract the retaining tab expansion feature.
  4. Pull the upper seat back cushion bolster forward.
  5. Pull the seat back cushion bolster up.
  6. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  7. Remove rear seat back cushion bolster.
  8. Remove the rear seat side inflatable module. Refer to Rear Seat Outboard Seat Back Airbag Replacement .
  9. When installing bolster, slide Lock Slider Mechanism rearward in vehicle to expand the retaining tabs.
NOTE:

Sliding the lock slider mechanism foreword in vehicle releases the retention tabs. Sliding the lock slider mechanism rearward in the vehicle expands the retention tabs. Access the slide lock mechanism through the slot located in the bolster cover. Slide the lock slider mechanism forward in vehicle to retract the retaining tab expansion feature.
