Removal Procedure
- Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
- Remove the fuel pipe shield. Refer to Fuel Pipe Shield Replacement (LFX) .
- Remove the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement (LFX) .
- Remove and DISCARD the fuel feed intermediate pipe. Refer to Fuel Feed Intermediate Pipe Replacement (LFX) .
- Remove the fuel injection fuel rail noise shield (1) from the engine (2).
- Cut the plastic tie strap (1).
- Disconnect the fuel pressure sensor electrical connector (2).
- Remove the fuel pressure sensor (3).
- Disconnect the bank 2 fuel rail electrical connector.
- Remove Fuel Feed Pipe - at engine Fuel Feed Pipe Replacement (At Tank AWD) Fuel Feed Pipe Replacement (LF3 At Engine)
- Remove the bank 2 fuel rail fasteners (1).
- Remove the bank 1 fuel rail fasteners (1) for clearance purposes.
- Using the EN-49248-4 hook (1), raise the fuel rail (2) as an assembly.
- Once the fuel rail is free, remove the EN-49248 remover (1).
- Slide the fuel rail (1) toward the rear of the engine approximately 1 inch (25.4mm), in order to clear the center injector bore.
- Once the fuel rail is removed, remove the fuel injectors and rebuild them. Refer to Fuel Rail and Injectors Cleaning and Inspection (LF3) .
NOTE:
The direct fuel injectors must be rebuilt whenever the injector has been released from the fuel rail or cylinder head.
