Adjustment Procedure

With the endgate closed, determine the amount of adjustment will be needed.
If adjustment is necessary, remove the endgate. Refer to Endgate Replacement (Avalanche/Escalade EXT) .
Mark the position of the hinges with a grease pencil.

IMPORTANT: Use a screwdriver to move the adjustment hinge.

Loosen the endgate bolts and adjust the endgate hinges by moving the hinges in the following directions.
- Upward or downward
- Inward or outward
Reinstall the endgate and determine if any further adjustments are needed.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .

When the proper adjustments are set, tighten the hinge bolts.
Tighten: Tighten the hinge bolts to 40 N.m (30 lb ft).
