Removal Procedure

Remove the following subassemblies:
- The left exhaust manifold - Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Left (LY7) or Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Left (LH2) in Engine Exhaust.
- The water crossover - Refer to Water Outlet Housing Replacement (LH2) or Water Outlet Housing Replacement (LY7) in Engine Cooling.
- The intake manifold - Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .
- The left secondary camshaft drive chain - Refer to Secondary Camshaft Drive Chain Replacement - Left .
- The left camshafts - Refer to Camshaft Replacement - Left .
Remove the power steering reservoir return hose retaining bolts from the cylinder head.

Remove the left cylinder head. Make sure that no dowel guide pins are stuck in the cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Removal - Left .
Disassemble the left cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Disassemble .
Clean and inspect the cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Cleaning and Inspection .
Assemble the left cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Assemble .
