Installation Procedure

  1. Lubricate the rubber sealing lip and the outside diameter of the output shaft seal with DEXTRON®-III
  2. Install the output shaft seal using J 45510 .

  4. Install the drive flange to the transmission output shaft.
  5. IMPORTANT: Use a new drive flange nut. Do NOT reuse the old nut.
  6. Apply gasket maker GM P/N 1052942 (Canadian P/N 10953466) to the sealing flange surface of the nut.
  7. Apply thread locker GM P/N 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489) to the threads of the nut.

  9. Install J 45012  to the drive flange.
  10. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  11. Install the new drive flange nut.

    Tighten the drive flange nut using the J 29873  while holding the J 45012  .

    Tighten:  Tighten the drive flange nut to 100 N.m (74 lb ft).

  12. Remove J 45012  from the drive flange.

  14. Install the propeller shaft coupler (1) to the transmission flange. Refer to Propeller Shaft Replacement (Automatic Transmission) , Propeller Shaft Replacement (Manual Transmission) or Propeller Shaft Replacement (CTS-V) in Driveline/Axle.
  15. Check the transmission fluid level. Refer to Transmission Fluid Level Inspection .
  16. Lower the vehicle.
