Schematic Reference: Instrument Cluster Schematics Connector End View Reference: Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console Connector End Views DEFINITION: This diagnostic procedure applies only to the serial data gages located in the instrument cluster which include the speedometer and the engine coolant temperature gage, if equipped.
1	Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Instrument Cluster?	-	Go to Step 2	Go to Diagnostic System Check - Instrument Cluster
2	Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF. Install a scan tool. With the scan tool, perform the Display(s) Test. Does the gage move from 0 to its maximum value and back to 0 when you perform the Display(s) Test?	-	Go to Step 3	Go to Step 4
3	Install a scan tool. IMPORTANT: If the suspect gage is the speedometer, the drive wheels of the vehicle must be raised and the transmission must be placed in drive or first gear. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information. Start the engine. Observe the suspect Gage parameter in the engine control module (ECM) Data list. Refer to Scan Tool Data List . Does the parameter match the gage display?	-	Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems	Go to Step 4
4	Replace the instrument panel cluster (IPC). Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement . Did you complete the replacement?	-	Go to Step 5	-
5	Use the scan tool in order to clear any induced DTCs. Operate the system in order to verify the repair. Did you correct the condition?	-	System OK	Go to Step 2
