Installation Procedure

  1. Install the ignition switch to the I/P retainer. Refer to IGNITION SWITCH REPLACEMENT (LHD)   or IGNITION SWITCH REPLACEMENT (RHD)   . 
  2. Install the Inside air temperature sensor to the I/P retainer. Refer to INSIDE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT (LHD)  or INSIDE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT (RHD)  in HVAC Systems-Automatic.
  3. Partially install the I/P retainer (1) to the carrier (2). Guide the wiring through the I/P retainer openings.
  4. Connect the inside air temperature sensor electrical connector.
  5. Connect the ignition switch electrical connectors.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE  in Cautions and Notices.
  6. Install the I/P retainer (1) bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

  7. Turn the ignition to the run position.
  8. Align the park lock cable tab (1) with the ignition switch.

  9. Push the cable towards the ignition switch until an audible click is heard indicating the release button is engaged.
  10. Install the steering column. Refer to STEERING COLUMN REPLACEMENT  in Steering Wheel and Column.

  11. Install the I/P retainer bolt (1) located in the opening for the fuel/rear compartment switch assembly.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolt to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

  12. Install the HVAC duct/I/P retainer bolt (1), located below the HVAC duct, on the drivers side.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolt to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

  13. Install the I/P screw (1) at each end of the I/P retainer.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolt to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

  14. Install the fuel/rear compartment release switch. Refer to BODY REAR END  in Body Rear End.
  15. Install the headlamp switch. Refer to HEADLAMP SWITCH REPLACEMENT (LHD)  in Lighting Systems.
  16. Install the knee bolster. Refer to KNEE BOLSTER REPLACEMENT   . 
  17. Install the radio. Refer to RADIO REPLACEMENT (U45)  or RADIO REPLACEMENT (U1R, UL6, UM5, UM9)  in Entertainment.
  18. Install the I/P cluster. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) REPLACEMENT   . 
  19. Install the I/P storage compartment. Refer to COMPARTMENT REPLACEMENT - INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P)   . 
  20. Install the left I/P accessory trim plate. Refer to TRIM PLATE REPLACEMENT - INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P) ACCESSORY LEFT (LHD)   or TRIM PLATE REPLACEMENT - INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P) ACCESSORY LEFT (RHD)   . 
  21. Install the right I/P accessory trim plate. Refer to TRIM PLATE REPLACEMENT - INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P) ACCESSORY RIGHT (LHD)   or TRIM PLATE REPLACEMENT - INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P) ACCESSORY RIGHT (RHD)   . 
  22. Install the I/P outer trim cover. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P) OUTER TRIM COVER REPLACEMENT  
  23. Install the center console. Refer to CONSOLE REPLACEMENT (W/O UV8)   or CONSOLE REPLACEMENT (W/ UV8)   . 
  24. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECT/CONNECT PROCEDURE in Battery.
  25. Enable the SIR. Refer to ZONE 3 and ZONE 5 in Air Bag Restraint Systems.
