Removal Procedure

CAUTION: Refer to SIR CAUTION in Cautions and Notices.
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling ZONE 3 in SIR.
  2. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to REMOVAL & INSTALLATION (DRIVER-SIDE) in SIR.
  3. Disconnect the steering column electrical connector.

  4. Remove the steering wheel retaining nut.

  5. Install J 42578  and J 1859-A  to the steering wheel. See Special Tools and Equipment .
  6. Using J 42578  and the J 1859-A  remove the steering wheel. See Special Tools and Equipment .
