Test U: Engine Oil Pressure Indicator Inoperative

  1. If instrument cluster diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If instrument cluster diagnostic system check was not performed, go to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECKS.
  2. Turn ignition off and back on. This will activate Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) bulb check. Observe engine oil pressure indicator during the bulb check. If engine oil pressure indicator does not illuminate during bulb check and then turn off, go to next step. If engine oil pressure indicator illuminates during bulb check and then turns off, problem is intermittent, check wiring and connections.
  3. Replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to next step.
  4. After repairs, recheck operation of indicator. If indicator operates properly, repair is complete. If indicator does not operate properly, return go to step  2.
