Test Av: Turn Signal Lights And/Or Indicators Always On Or Flashing
- If lighting system diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If lighting system diagnostic check was not performed, see LIGHTING SYSTEMS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECKS.
- Turn ignition on. Operate turn signals. If turn signal lights do not operate properly, go to next step. If turn signal lights and indicators on instrument cluster operate properly, check for faulty connections in turn signal circuit.
- If turn signal indicator and front, rear or both turn signal lights remain illuminated, go to next step. If only the turn signal indicator on instrument cluster remains illuminated, go to step 10.
- If turn signal lights flash, go to next step. If turn signal lights do not flash go to step 6.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect the turn/hazard flasher module harness connector. Turn ignition on. Connect a test light between ground and faulty turn signal input circuit. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 9. If test light illuminates, go to step 7.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect turn/hazard flasher module. Turn ignition on. Connect a test light between ground and faulty turn signal supply circuit. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 9. If test light illuminates, go to step 11.
- Check for short to battery voltage in faulty turn signal input. If no problems are found, go to next step. If a problem was found and corrected, go to step 15.
- Check for faulty connections at turn signal switch harness connector. If no problem was found, go to step 12. If a problem was found and corrected, go to step 15.
- Check for faulty connections at turn/hazard flasher module. If no problem was found, go to step 13. If a problem was found and corrected, go to step 15.
- Check for faulty connections at instrument cluster harness connector. If no problem was found, go to step 14. If a problem was found and corrected, go to step 15.
- Repair a short to battery voltage in faulty turn signal light supply voltage circuit. After repairs are completed, go to step 15.
- Replace turn signal switch. See TURN SIGNAL SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs are completed, go to step 15.
- Replace turn signal/hazard module. See TURN SIGNAL/HAZARD FLASHER MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs are completed, go to step 15.
- Replace Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs are completed, go to next step.
- After repairs, recheck operation of turn signals. If indicator operates properly, repair is complete. If indicator does not operate properly, return to step 2.
