Lighting Systems Diagnostic System Check
- Connect scan tool. If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, see SCAN TOOL DOES NOT POWER UP under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in BODY CONTROL MODULES - DEVILLE article.
- Turn ignition on. Try to establish communications with Dash Integration Module (DIM), Instrument Panel Integration Module (IPM), Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC), and Rear Integration Module (RIM). If scan tool communicates with DIM, IPM, IPC and RIM, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with DIM, IPM, IPC or RIM, see SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in BODY CONTROL MODULES - DEVILLE article.
- Cycle ignition switch through all positions. Observe CLASS 2 POWER MODE parameter under DIAGNOSTIC CIRCUIT CHECK on scan tool. If displayed CLASS 2 POWER MODE parameter matches actual ignition switch position, go to next step. If displayed CLASS 2 POWER MODE parameter does not match actual ignition switch position, see POWER MODE MISMATCH under SYSTEM TESTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - DEVILLE article.
- Select DIM, IPM, IPC or RIM to display DTCs function on scan tool. If scan tool displays any DTCs, go to next step. If scan tool does not display any DTCs, see appropriate LIGHTING article for further symptom diagnosis.
- If scan tool does not display any DTCs that begin with a "U", go to next step. If scan tool displays any DTCs that begin with "U", see SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in BODY CONTROL MODULES - DEVILLE article.
- If scan tool does not display DTC B1004, B1007 or B1009, go to next step. If scan tool displays DTC B1004, B1007 or B1009, see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in BODY CONTROL MODULES - DEVILLE article.
- If scan tool displays DTC B1327 or B1328, see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in BODY CONTROL MODULES - DEVILLE article.
