Test Aa: Lights On Indicator Always On

  1. If lighting diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If lighting diagnostic system check was not performed, go to LIGHTING DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECKS.
  2. Check operation of parking lights. If parking lights operate properly, go to next step. If parking lights do not operate properly, diagnose parking lights circuit. See appropriate EXTERIOR LIGHTS article.
  3. Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). See Figure. Turn ignition on. Select INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) SPECIAL FUNCTIONS and perform DISPLAY(S) TEST. Observe lights on indicator during test. If lights on indicator illuminates during test and then turns off, problem is intermittent, check wiring and connections to parking lights. If lights on indicator does not come on during test and then turn off, go to next step.
  4. Replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to next step.
  5. After repairs, recheck operation of indicator. If indicator operates properly, repair is complete. If indicator does not operate properly, return to step  2.
