Seat Belt Diagnostic System Check

  1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). See Figure . If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, go to SCAN TOOL DOES NOT POWER UP under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC TESTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - SEVILLE article.
  2. Attempt to establish communication with inflatable restraint Sensing And Diagnostic Module (SDM) and Instrument Panel Module (IPC). If scan tool communicates with both modules, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with both modules, go to SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC TESTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - SEVILLE article.
  3. Display SDM DTCs. If any SDM DTCs are set, go to appropriate AIR BAG SERVICE & REPAIR manual. If no any SDM DTCs are set, go to next step.
  4. Display IPC DTCs. If any IPC DTCs are set, go to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  . If no IPC DTCs are set, attempt to diagnose by symptom. See SYSTEM TESTS  .
