Instrument Cluster Diagnostic System Check

  1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). See Figure . If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, go to SCAN TOOL DOES NOT POWER UP under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC TESTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - SEVILLE article.
  2. Turn ignition on. Attempt to establish communications with Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC), Powertrain Control Module (PCM), Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM), inflatable restraint Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM), Dash Integration Module (DIM), Rear Integration Module (RIM), Instrument Panel Integration Module (IPM), Theft Deterrent Module and Driver Door Module (DDM). If scan tool communicates with control modules listed above, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with control modules listed above, go to SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC TESTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - SEVILLE article.
  3. Select display DTCs function on scan tool for control modules listed in step  2 . If scan tool displays any DTCs for control modules listed, go to next step. If scan tool does not display any DTCs for control modules listed, attempt to diagnose by symptom. See SYSTEM TESTS  .
  4. If scan tool displays any other DTCs that begin with "U", go to SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC TESTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - SEVILLE article. If scan tool does not display any other DTCs that begin with "U", go to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS  table.

(1) Go to appropriate diagnostic and repair procedure under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS  unless otherwise noted.

(3) Go to appropriate diagnostic and repair procedure in lemon-25(R) AIR BAG SERVICE & REPAIR MANUAL, DOMESTIC & IMPORTED MODELS.
(4) Go to appropriate diagnostic procedure in GENERATORS & REGULATORS - SEVILLE article.
(5) Go to BODY CONTROL SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in BODY CONTROL MODULES - SEVILLE article.
(6) Go to SYSTEM CHECK under TROUBLE SHOOTING in POWER WINDOWS - SEVILLE article.
(7) Go to appropriate system check in AIR BAG SERVICE & REPAIR manual.
(8) Go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in ANTI-THEFT SYSTEMS - SEVILLE article.
(9) See appropriate ANTI-LOCK article in BRAKES.
