High Beam Indicator Inoperative
- If lighting diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If lighting diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to LIGHTING SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC CHECK
under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in HEADLIGHTS - AUTOMATIC TWILIGHT SENTINEL - SEVILLE article.
- Check operation of high beam headlights. If high beam headlights operate properly, go to next step. If high beam headlights do not operate properly, diagnose high beam headlight malfunction. See HEADLIGHT SYSTEMS & DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS article.
- Check for open or high resistance in Black/White wire between Dash Integration Module (DIM) connector C1 terminal B7 and HDLP HI BM relay located in underhood fuse block. See Fig 1
. If circuit is okay, go to next step. If faulty circuit is found and repaired, go to step 8
.
- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). See Figure
. Turn ignition on. Select Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) SPECIAL FUNCTIONS. Perform DISPLAY(S) TEST. Observe high beam indicator on IPC during. If high beam indicator illuminates, go to next step. If high beam indicator does not illuminate, go to step 7
.
- Check for poor connections at DIM connector. If connections are okay, go to next step. If faulty connections are found and repaired, go to step 8
.
- Replace DIM. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
in BODY CONTROL MODULES - SEVILLE article. After repairs, go to step 8
.
- Replace Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER
under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to next step.
- Recheck high beam indicator operation. If high beam indicator operates properly, repair is complete. If high beam indicator does not operate properly, go to step 2
