Lighting System Diagnostic Check
- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). See Fig 1 . If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, go to SCAN TOOL DOES NOT POWER UP under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in BODY CONTROL MODULES - SEVILLE article.
- Turn ignition on. Attempt to establish communication with Dash Integration Module (DIM), Instrument Panel Module (IPM) and Rear Integration Module (RIM) and Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). If scan tool communicates with all 4 modules, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with all 4 modules, go to SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in BODY CONTROL MODULES - SEVILLE article.
- Display DTCs function on scan tool for DIM, IPM RIM and IPC. If scan tool displays any DTCs for these modules, go to next step. If scan tool does not display any DTCs for these modules, diagnose by symptom. See SYSTEM TESTS .
- If scan tool displays any DTCs that begin with "U", go to SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in BODY CONTROL MODULES - SEVILLE article. If scan tool does not display any DTCs that begin with "U", go to next step.
- If scan tool displays DTC B1000, B1004, B1007, or B1009, go to SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in BODY CONTROL MODULES - SEVILLE article. If scan tool does not display any DTCs listed, go to next step.
- If scan tool displays DTC B1327 or B1328 go to SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in BODY CONTROL MODULES - SEVILLE article. If scan tool does not display any DTCs listed, see LIGHTING SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES table.
