Test No. 12: Low Coolant Message Inoperative
- If instrument panel cluster diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If instrument panel cluster diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Disconnect coolant level switch connector. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . Connect a fused jumper wire between coolant level switch connector terminals. Turn ignition on. If CHECK COOLANT LEVEL message is not displayed on Driver's Information Center (DIC), go to next step. If CHECK COOLANT LEVEL message is displayed on DIC, go to step 7 .
- Disconnect Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) connector C2. Using DVOM, measure voltage between IPC connector C2 terminal A10 (Light Green wire) and battery voltage. See Figure . If voltage is not 10-15 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10-15 volts, go to step 8 .
- With DVOM still connected, connect a fused jumper wire between coolant level switch connector terminal "A" (Light Green wire) and ground. If voltage is not 10-15 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10-15 volts, go to step 7 .
- Repair open in Light green wire between IPC and coolant level switch. After repairs, go to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Repair open in Black wire between coolant level switch and ground. After repairs, go to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Replace coolant level switch. After repairs, go to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Replace Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using scan tool, obtain approximate mileage, and contact an authorized Delco service center for transfer of information from failed IPC to replacement IPC. After repairs, go to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
