Instrument Panel Cluster Diagnostic System Check

  1. Turn ignition on. Observe SERVICE ENGINE SOON indicator. See Figure . Wait 1 minute. If SERVICE ENGINE SOON indicator is illuminated, go to powertrain on board diagnostic (OBD) system check in appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If SERVICE ENGINE SOON indicator is not illuminated, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Select Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) DTC display on scan tool. If scan tool displays NO DATA RECEIVED, go to BODY CONTROL MODULE DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in BODY CONTROL MODULES - ELDORADO article. If scan tool does not display NO DATA RECEIVED, go to next step.
  3. If only history DTCs exist, go to DIAGNOSTIC AIDS for appropriate history DTC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITION  table. If any current DTCs are set, go to appropriate diagnostic procedure under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS  . If no current DTCs are set, go to next step.
  4. Clear all history DTCs using scan tool. Recheck system operation. If any DTCs set as current, go to appropriate diagnostic procedure under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS  . If no DTCs set, attempt to diagnose by symptom. See SYMPTOM TESTS  .
