Test No. 10: Engine Oil Pressure Indicator Inoperative
- If instrument panel cluster diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If instrument panel cluster diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Turn ignition off and back on. This will activate instrument cluster bulb check. Monitor oil pressure indicator during bulb check. If oil pressure indicator does not come on, go to next step. If oil pressure indicator comes on and turns off, check for intermittent poor connections at Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) and oil pressure sending unit connectors. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS .
- Replace Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using scan tool, obtain approximate mileage, and contact an authorized Delco service center for transfer of information from failed IPC to replacement IPC. After repairs, go to next step.
- Recheck operation of oil pressure indicator. If oil pressure indicator operates properly, repair is complete. If oil pressure indicator does not operate properly, go to step 2 .
