Retrieving Diagnostic Trouble Codes

NOTE: If vehicle is to be operated in diagnostics without engine running for an extended time period, use battery charger to prevent battery from running down or system setting false diagnostic information. DTC B1982 may set if vehicle is connected to a battery charger on fast or boost charge.

To retrieve DTCs using scan tool, select Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) data on scan tool. Select DTC function for IPC. Select HISTORY or CURRENT DTC display function to view corresponding codes.

To enter diagnostic mode using on-board diagnostics, turn ignition on. Simultaneously press OFF and passenger warmer buttons on climate control panel. Pressing low (fan speed) button will scroll through modules available. Scroll through until IPC? appears. Pressing high (fan speed) button will scroll through functions of selected module (i.e., IPC DATA, IPC INPUTS, IPC OUTPUTS, etc.). Scroll through until IPC CODES? appears. Press high (fan speed) button until all IPC DTCs appear. Note codes and go to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITION  table. To exit diagnostic mode, press rear defogger or MODE button on CCP, or turn ignition off. DTCs will not be cleared. System will return to normal vehicle operation.
