Seat Belt Diagnostic System Check

  1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). See Figure . If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, go to SCAN TOOL DOES NOT POWER UP under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in BODY CONTROL MODULES - DEVILLE article.
  2. Turn ignition on. Attempt to establish communications with inflatable restraint Sensing And Diagnostic Module (SDM), Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) and Memory Seat Module (MSM). If scan tool communicates with all modules, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with all modules, go to SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in BODY CONTROL MODULES - DEVILLE article.
  3. Select SDM display DTC function on scan tool. If scan tool does not display any DTCs, go to next step. If scan tool displays any DTCs, go to appropriate air bag diagnostic system check. For information on air bag DIAGNOSIS & TESTING PROCEDURES, see lemon-25(R) AIR BAG SERVICE & REPAIR MANUAL, DOMESTIC & IMPORTED MODELS.
  4. Select IPC display DTC function on scan tool. If scan tool does not display any DTCs, go to next step. If scan tool displays any DTCs, go to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  5. Select MSM display DTC function on scan tool. If scan tool does not display any DTCs, attempt to diagnose by symptom. If scan tool displays any DTCs, go to SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in MEMORY SYSTEMS - DEVILLE article.
