Code C1788: RTD Body Relay Short To Battery/Short Across Load
- Perform CVRSS system check. See CVRSS SYSTEM CHECK . After performing CVRSS system check, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Remove RTD BODY relay. Using DVOM, measure resistance between coil terminals of RTD BODY relay (component side). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If resistance is 50-125 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 50 ohms or more than 125 ohms, go to step 7 .
- Disconnect 32-pin CVRSS control module connector C1. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using DVOM, measure voltage between damper relay enable circuit (Light Blue/White wire) of CVRSS control module harness connector C1 and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to step 6 . If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Check for intermittent short to voltage in damper relay enable circuit (Light Blue/White wire). Repair as necessary. If circuit is okay, go to next step.
- Reinstall/reconnect all components/connectors. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Clear CVRSS codes. Display CVRSS codes. If Code C1788 is set, go to step 8 . If Code C1788 is not set, see NOTES ON INTERMITTENTS under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
- Repair short to voltage in damper relay enable circuit (Light Blue/White wire). Reinstall/reconnect all components/connectors.
- Replace RTD BODY relay.
- Turn ignition off. Replace CVRSS control module. Reinstall/reconnect all components/connectors. Install scan tool. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Calibrate NEW CVRSS control module. See CALIBRATING CVRSS CONTROL MODULE under ADJUSTMENTS.
