Code RS0064, 0065, 0066 & 0067: RSS Position Sensor Over-Current

- Clear codes. Wait 10 seconds. Display codes. If Code RS0064, RS0065, RS0066 or RS0067 is set, go to next step. If Code RS0064, RS0065, RS0066 or RS0067 is not set, go to NOTES ON INTERMITTENTS under SELF-DIAGNOSTICS.
- Turn ignition on. Using DVOM, backprobe measuring voltage of 8-volt reference circuit (Gray/Black wire on front; Light Blue/Black wire on rear) at RSS control module connector C1 (C2 on right front) to ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If voltage is less than 7 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 7-9 volts, go to NOTES ON INTERMITTENTS under SELF-DIAGNOSTICS. If voltage is more than 9 volts, repair short to voltage in Gray/Black wire on front, or Light Blue/Black wire on rear. Clear codes.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect position sensor connector. Turn ignition on. Using DVOM, measure voltage between 8-volt reference circuit (Gray/Black wire on front; Light Blue/Black wire on rear) of position sensor harness connector and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If voltage is less than 7 volts, go to step 5). If voltage is more than 7 volts, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Check position sensor connector for debris or corrosion. Reconnect position sensor connector. Turn ignition on. Using DVOM, backprobe measuring voltage of 8-volt reference circuit (Gray/Black wire on front; Light Blue/Black wire on rear) at RSS control module connector C1 (C2 on right front) to ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If voltage is less than 7 volts, replace position sensor. Clear codes. If voltage is more then 7 volts, go to NOTES ON INTERMITTENTS under SELF-DIAGNOSTICS. Clear codes.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect 32-pin RSS control module connector C1 (24-pin RSS control module connector C2 on right front). Check continuity between the following terminals of RSS control module harness connector C1 (C2 on right front). See WIRING DIAGRAMS
.
- 8-volt reference circuit (Gray/Black wire on front; Light Blue/Black wire on rear) and ground circuit (Light Green wire on front; White wire on rear)
- 8-volt reference circuit (Gray/Black wire on front; Light Blue/Black wire on rear) and drain wire return circuit (Bare wire)
- 8-volt reference circuit (Gray/Black wire on front; Light Blue/Black wire on rear) and ground
If continuity does not exist on all terminals, go to step 7). If continuity exists on any terminal, go to next step.
- Repair short between Gray/Black wire on front, or Light Blue/Black wire on rear, and Light Green wire on front, or White wire on rear. Repair short between Gray/Black wire on front, or Light Blue/Black wire on rear, and Bare wire. Repair short between Gray/Black wire on front, or Light Blue/Black wire on rear, and ground.
- Turn ignition off. Check RSS control module connector for debris or corrosion. Reconnect RSS control module connector. Turn ignition on. Using DVOM, backprobe measuring voltage of 8-volt reference circuit (Gray/Black wire on front; Light Blue/Black wire on rear) at RSS control module connector C1 (C2 on right front) to ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If voltage is less than 7 volts, go to step 9). If voltage is more then 7 volts, go to next step.
- Go to NOTES ON INTERMITTENTS under SELF-DIAGNOSTICS. Reinstall/reconnect all components/connectors. Clear codes.
- Reinstall/reconnect all components/connectors. Replace RSS control module. Calibrate NEW RSS control module. See CALIBRATING RSS CONTROL MODULE under ADJUSTMENTS.
