Code RS0044: Lift/Dive Signal Fault
- Turn ignition on. Clear codes. Exit on-board diagnostics mode. Wait 35 seconds (test duration is 31 seconds). If Code RS0044 is set, go to step 3). If Code RS0044 is not set, go to next step.
- If Code P1652 is set, go to Code P1652 for diagnosis. See TESTS W/CODES article. If Code P1652 is not set, go to NOTES ON INTERMITTENTS under SELF-DIAGNOSTICS.
- Turn ignition on. Using DVOM, backprobe lift/dive signal input circuit terminal (Orange wire) of RSS control module connector C2 to ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If voltage is less than 4 volts or more than 6 volts, go to step 7). If voltage is 4-6 volts, go to next step.
- Install scan tool. Using DVOM, backprobe lift/dive signal input circuit terminal (Orange wire) of RSS control module connector C2 to ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Using scan tool, select MISC TESTS. Select MORE, and then RIDE CONTROL. Command ride control to FIRM. Within 5 seconds, measure voltage between lift/dive signal input circuit terminal (Orange wire) of RSS control module connector C2 and ground. If voltage is less than one volt, go to next step. If voltage is more than one volt, go to step 6).
- Replace RSS control module. Calibrate NEW RSS control module. See CALIBRATING RSS CONTROL MODULE under ADJUSTMENTS.
- Using scan tool, store fluid life. Turn ignition off. Wait 30 seconds. Disconnect PCM connector C1. Disconnect 24-pin RSS control module connector C2. Ensure RSS control module connector terminals are properly seated. Check for an open in Orange wire and Purple wire between RSS control module and PCM. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If Orange wire or Purple wire is open, go to next step. If continuity exists, replace PCM. See TESTS W/CODES article.
- Using scan tool, store fluid life. Turn ignition off. Wait 30 seconds. Disconnect PCM connector C1. Disconnect 24-pin RSS control module connector C2. Ensure RSS control module connector terminals are properly seated. Check continuity of lift/dive signal input circuit (Orange wire) at RSS control module harness connector C2 to ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Also, check continuity of lift/dive signal input circuit (Purple wire) at PCM harness connector C1 to ground. If continuity does not exist on either circuit, go to step 9). If continuity exists on both circuits, go to next step.
- Repair short to ground in Orange wire or Purple wire. Reinstall/reconnect all components/connectors. Turn ignition on. Clear all codes.
- Turn ignition on. Using DVOM, measure voltage on lift/dive signal input circuit (Orange wire and Purple wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If voltage is less than 6 volts, go to step 11). If voltage is more than 6 volts, go to next step.
- Repair short to battery in Orange wire or Purple wire. Reinstall/reconnect all components/connectors. Turn ignition on. Clear all codes.
- Replace RSS control module. Calibrate NEW RSS control module. See CALIBRATING RSS CONTROL MODULE under ADJUSTMENTS.
