Code RS0043: Speed Signal Fault
- Clear codes. Drive vehicle faster than 20 MPH for more than 10 seconds. Display codes. If Code RS0043 is set, go to next step. If Code RS0043 is not set, check vehicle speed input circuit (Pink wire) for intermittent faults.
- If Code P1642 is set, go to Code P1642 for diagnosis. See TESTS W/CODES article. If Code P1642 is not set, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect 24-pin RSS control module connector C2. Disconnect 23-pin splice C205 connector located behind right side of instrument panel, near kick panel. Check continuity between vehicle speed input circuit terminal (Dark Green/White wire) of splice C205 connector (PCM side) and vehicle speed input circuit terminal (Pink wire) of RSS control module harness connector C2. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If continuity exists, go to step 5). If continuity does not exist, go to next step.
- Repair open in Pink wire or Dark Green/White wire. Reinstall/reconnect all components/connectors.
- Check RSS control module connector for corrosion or loose connections. Reinstall/reconnect all components/connectors. Clear codes. Drive vehicle faster than 20 MPH for more than 10 seconds. Display codes. If Code RS0043 is set, go to next step. If Code RS0043 is not set, problem no longer exists. Go to NOTES ON INTERMITTENTS under SELF-DIAGNOSTICS.
- Replace RSS control module. Calibrate NEW RSS control module. See CALIBRATING RSS CONTROL MODULE under ADJUSTMENTS.
