Code RS0012, 0017, 0022 & 0027: Damper Solenoid Valve Open Circuit
- CODE RS0012
Left Front Damper Solenoid Valve Open Circuit
- CODE RS0017
Right Front Damper Solenoid Valve Open Circuit
- CODE RS0022
Left Rear Damper Solenoid Valve Open Circuit
- CODE RS0027
Right Rear Damper Solenoid Valve Open Circuit
- Clear codes. Using scan tool, select RSS OUTPUTS, and then RS 002 (LF STRUT), RS 001 (RF STRUT), RS 004 (LR SHOCK) or RS 003 (RR SHOCK) for damper solenoid being tested. Cycle damper solenoid for 20 seconds. Display codes. If Code RS0012, RS0017, RS0022 or RS0027 is set, go to next step. If Code RS0012, RS0017, RS0022 or RS0027 is not set, go to NOTES ON INTERMITTENTS
under SELF-DIAGNOSTICS.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect damper solenoid connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance between terminals of damper solenoid connector (component side). If resistance is 1.7-3 ohms, go to step 4). If resistance is not 1.7-3 ohms, go to next step.
- Replace damper solenoid. Reinstall/reconnect all components/connectors. Check for short to voltage in Light Blue wire or Dark Green wire, and short to ground in Gray wire or Purple wire. Clear codes. Using scan tool, select RSS OUTPUTS, and then RS 002 (LF STRUT), RS 001 (RF STRUT), RS 004 (LR SHOCK) or RS 003 (RR SHOCK) for damper solenoid being tested. Cycle damper solenoid for 20 seconds. Display codes.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect damper solenoid connector. Disconnect 8-pin RSS control module connector C3 (24-pin RSS control module connector C2 on right rear). Check continuity of solenoid ground circuit (Light Blue wire on front; Dark Green wire on rear) at RSS control module harness connector C3 (C2 on right rear) to damper solenoid connector (component side). See WIRING DIAGRAMS
. Also, check continuity of solenoid control circuit (Gray wire on front; Purple wire on rear) at RSS control module harness connector C3 (C2 on right rear) to damper solenoid connector (component side). If continuity exists on both circuits, go to step 6). If continuity does not exist on either circuit, go to next step.
- Locate and repair open in Light Blue wire or Dark Green wire, or in Gray wire or Purple wire. Reconnect all components/connectors. Clear codes.
- Check RSS control module connector and damper solenoid connector for corrosion or loose connection. Reinstall/reconnect all components/connectors. Turn ignition on. Clear codes. Using scan tool, select RSS OUTPUTS, and then RS 002 (LF STRUT), RS 001 (RF STRUT), RS 004 (LR SHOCK) or RS 003 (RR SHOCK) for damper solenoid being tested. Cycle damper solenoid for 20 seconds. Display codes. If Code RS0012, RS0017, RS0022 or RS0027 is set, go to next step. If Code RS0012, RS0017, RS0022 or RS0027 is not set, go to NOTES ON INTERMITTENTS
under SELF-DIAGNOSTICS.
- Replace RSS control module. Calibrate NEW RSS control module. See CALIBRATING RSS CONTROL MODULE
under ADJUSTMENTS.
