Removal Procedure

- Remove the valve rocker arms. Valve Rocker Arm Replacement - Left Side
- Remove the starter. Starter Replacement (3.6L LGX) .
- NOTE:
If the EN-46106 tool is not installed, the crankshaft may rotate. If the crankshaft rotates, disassembly and reassembly of the entire camshaft timing system may be required.
Install the EN-46106 tool (1) in order to prevent crankshaft rotation.
- Remove the spark plug from the applicable cylinder. Spark Plug Replacement (Bank 2) , or Spark Plug Replacement (Bank 1)
- Install the EN-39313 adapter to the applicable cylinder.
- Connect the EN-39313 adapter to a compressed air source.
Install the EN-46335-A compressor (1) above the applicable cylinder as shown.
- Tighten the EN-46335-A compressor bolt (2).
- Remove the valve keepers (3).
- Loosen the EN-46335-A compressor bolt and remove the compressor.
Valve Spring Retainer (1) - Remove
- Valve Spring (2) - Remove
Use the EN-46116 remover/installer (1) in order to remove the valve stem seal (2).
