Installation Procedure

  1. Clean the sealing surfaces.
    2. Fig 1: Engine Coolant Thermostat Housing Fasteners

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  2. Install the engine coolant thermostat housing (2) with a NEW seal (1) and tighten the fasteners (3) to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  3. Install the radiator outlet hose (1) to the engine coolant thermostat housing (2).
  4. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield. Refer to EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT SHIELD REPLACEMENT (LTG) .
  5. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716) .
  6. Start the engine and check for coolant leaks.
