Ignition Key Cannot Be Removed from the Ignition Lock Cylinder

1 Did you review the Steering Wheel and Column Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections? Go to Step2  Go to Symptoms - Steering Wheel and Column
2 Verify the ignition key cannot be removed from the ignition lock cylinder.
Is the ignition key stuck in the ignition lock cylinder?
Go to Step3  System OK
3 Is the vehicle equipped with a manual transmission? Go to Step8  Go to Step4 
4 Turn the ignition key to the OFF position.
Can the ignition key be turned to the OFF position and be removed?
Go to Step8  Go to Step5 
5 Verify the adjustment of the shift control cable.
Can the ignition key be turned to the OFF position and be removed?
System OK Go to Step6 
6 Inspect for a faulty ignition lock cylinder.
Is the ignition lock cylinder damaged?
Go to Step8  Go to Step7 
7 Inspect the ignition and start switch housing.
Is the ignition and start switch housing worn, damaged or loose?
Go to Step9  Go to Step10 
8 Replace the ignition lock cylinder. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement .
Did you complete the repair?
Go to Step10  -
9 Replace the ignition and start switch housing. Refer to Ignition and Start Switch Housing Replacement .
Did you complete the repair?
Go to Step10  -
10 Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
Did you correct the condition?
System OK -
