Installation Procedure

  1. Insert the DT-51504  protector (1) into the transmission.

  3. Position the wheel drive shaft (1) in the vehicle.
  4. Remove the DT-51504  protector from the oil seal.
  5. Insert the wheel drive shaft in the knuckle.
  6. Install the lower control arm in the knuckle. Lower Control Arm Replacement (GNA) or Lower Control Arm Replacement (GNB)
  7. Install the outer tie rod end in the knuckle. Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement

  9. Install the wheel drive shaft nut (1).

  11. Insert a drift or punch (2) in the cooling fins of the brake rotor.
  12. Rotate the brake rotor until the drift or punch contacts the brake caliper mounting bracket.
  13. Using a torque wrench (1), tighten the wheel drive shaft nut to:
    • First Pass: 150 N.m (111 lb ft)
    • Second Pass: loosen 45 degrees
    • Final Pass: re-tighten to 250 N.m (184 lb ft)
  14. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
  15. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
  16. Inspect the transaxle fluid level. Refer to MH8 Transmission Fluid Level and Condition Check , or M7W Transmission Fluid Level and Condition Check
