Installation Procedure
- Insert the DT-51504 protector (1) into the transmission.
- Position the wheel drive shaft (1) in the vehicle.
- Remove the DT-51504 protector from the oil seal.
- Insert the wheel drive shaft in the knuckle.
- Install the lower control arm in the knuckle. Lower Control Arm Replacement (GNA) or Lower Control Arm Replacement (GNB)
- Install the outer tie rod end in the knuckle. Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement
- Install the wheel drive shaft nut (1).
- Insert a drift or punch (2) in the cooling fins of the brake rotor.
- Rotate the brake rotor until the drift or punch contacts the brake caliper mounting bracket.
- Using a torque wrench (1), tighten the wheel drive shaft nut to:
- First Pass: 150 N.m (111 lb ft)
- Second Pass: loosen 45 degrees
- Final Pass: re-tighten to 250 N.m (184 lb ft)
- Install the tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
- Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
- Inspect the transaxle fluid level. Refer to MH8 Transmission Fluid Level and Condition Check , or M7W Transmission Fluid Level and Condition Check
