Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the instrument panel lower trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Replacement - Left Side .
  2. Remove the brake pedal position sensor. Refer to Brake Pedal Position Sensor Replacement .
  3. Without disconnecting the intermediate steering shaft, lower and position aside the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement .

  5. Using a pointed tool, evenly lift the brake pedal pivot retaining cap springs (1) approximately 5.0 mm (0.20 in) .
  6. NOTE:

    The left and right brake pedal pivot retainers are different. Observe which side of the brake pedal pivot each retainer is located.

  7. Using a flat bladed tool, carefully drive the upper and lower tabs through the brake pedal bracket and remove the left brake pedal retainer (1) .

  9. Using a flat bladed tool, carefully drive the upper and lower tabs through the brake pedal bracket and remove the right brake pedal retainer (1) .

  11. Compress the locking tabs on the power vacuum brake booster pushrod retainer (1) and remove the brake pedal (2) .
