Installation Procedure
- Align the brake pedal pivot notches with the keyways (1) in the brake pedal bracket.
- Install the power vacuum brake booster retainer (1) .
- Install the brake pedal (2) to the brake pedal bracket.
- Ensure the brake pedal pivot is fully seated in the brake pedal bracket.
- Select and install the right brake pedal retainer (1) .
- Select and install the left brake pedal retainer (1) .
- Secure the brake pedal pivot retaining cap springs (1) by pressing the springs downward evenly.
- Confirm that the brake pedal operates smoothly fore and aft.
- Secure the brake pedal to the power vacuum brake booster pushrod retainer.
- Ensure the power vacuum brake booster pushrod retainer locking tabs are fully engaged in the brake pedal.
- Reposition and install the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement .
- Install the brake pedal position sensor. Refer to Brake Pedal Position Sensor Replacement .
- Install the instrument panel lower trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Replacement - Left Side .
NOTE:
The plastic brake pedal pivot retainers must be installed squarely into the brake pedal bracket. Do not attempt to install the retainers at an angle.
