Conditions for Clearing the DTC

The DTC will become history when a power cycle has been performed and the fault is not detected by the IPC.
A history DTC will clear after 100 fault-free ignition cycles.
A scan tool may be used to clear the DTC.

2	Turn OFF the ignition. Disconnect the compass module. Connect a test light between the compass sensor circuit and a good ground. Turn ON the ignition. Does the test light illuminate?	Go to Step 4	Go to Step 3
3	Turn OFF the ignition. Connect a test light between the compass sensor return circuit and a good ground. Turn ON the ignition. Does the test light illuminate?	Go to Step 5	Go to Step 7
4	Test the compass sensor circuit for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems. Did you find and correct the condition?	Go to Step 10	Go to Step 5
5	Test the compass sensor return circuit for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems. Did you find and correct the condition?	Go to Step 10	Go to Step 6
6	Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the instrument panel cluster (IPC). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems. Did you find and correct the condition?	Go to Step 10	Go to Step 8

10	Use the scan tool in order to clear the DTCs. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC as specified in the supporting text. Does the DTC reset?	Go to Step 2	System OK
