Seat Belt Indicator Circuit Malfunction - Driver

Schematic Reference: Seat Belt Schematics 
1 Did you review the Seat Belt System Description and Operation  and perform the necessary inspections? Go to Step 2  Go to Operational and Functional Checks

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
    2. IMPORTANT: The fasten safety belt indicator should turn ON when the driver seat belt is unbuckled.
  2. Monitor the fasten safety belt indicator located within the instrument panel cluster (IPC) while buckling and unbuckling the driver seat belt.
Does the safety belt indicator turn ON and OFF when the driver seat belt is unbuckled and buckled?		 Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems Go to Step 3

  1. Buckle the driver seat belt.
  2. With a scan tool, observe the Driver Side Belt Status parameter in the SIR scan tool data list.
Does the scan tool indicate that the Driver Side Belt Status parameter displays Buckled?		 Go to Step 4  Go to Step 5 
4 Replace the IPC. Refer to Control Module References in Computer/Integrating Systems for replacement, setup and programming.
Did you complete the replacement?		 Go to Step 8  -

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) connector. Refer to Control Module References in Computer/Integrating Systems for replacement, setup and programming.
  3. Disconnect the seat belt switch - LF connector.
  4. Test the seat belt switch - left signal circuit for an open or high resistance.
Did you find and correct the condition?		 Go to Step 8  Go to Step 6 
6 Test the seat belt switch - left ground circuit for an open or high resistance.
Did you find and correct the condition?		 Go to Step 8  Go to Step 7 
7 Replace the seat belt switch - LF. Refer to Seat Belt Buckle Replacement - Front .
Did you complete the replacement?		 Go to Step 8  -
8 Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
Did you find and correct the condition?		 System OK Go to Step 3
