Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Pontiac Montana SV6, 2006 Chevrolet Uplander, and 2006 Buick Terraza. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the left-side instrument panel insulator. Refer to Knee Bolster, Insulator, Molding Replacement - Instrument Panel in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  2. Remove the left-side carpet retainer. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement (Door) or Door Sill Plate Replacement (Sliding Door) in Interior Trim.
  3. Fold the carpet back in order to gain access.

  4. Remove the park brake indicator switch electrical connector.
  5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  6. Loosen the park brake equalizer nut.
  7. Lower the vehicle.

  8. Remove the park brake lever nuts (1).
  9. Remove the park brake lever with the park brake cable.

  10. Remove the park brake cable end from the park brake lever clevis.

  11. Use the J 37043  in order to remove the cable from the lever. See Special Tools .
