Enabling Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Pontiac Montana SV6, 2006 Chevrolet Uplander, and 2006 Buick Terraza. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the key from the ignition.
  2. When enabling the side impact module - RF proceed to step 21. If the entire SIR System needs to be enabled, then go to step 3.

  3. Connect the vehicle wiring harness connector to the left seat belt retractor pretensioner.
  4. Install the CPA to the left seat belt retractor pretensioner connector.
  5. Install the left lower center pillar trim cover. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Lower Center Pillar

  6. Connect the steering wheel module coil yellow connector (1).
  7. Install the CPA to the steering wheel module coil connector (1), located at the base of the steering column.
  8. Install the left I/P insulator panel. Refer to Knee Bolster, Insulator, Molding Replacement - Instrument Panel .

  9. Connect the vehicle harness connector (4) to the LF side impact module yellow connector (1).
  10. Install the CPA to the LF side impact module connector (1).

  11. Connect the vehicle harness connector (4) to the LR side impact module yellow connector (1).
  12. Install the CPA to the LR side impact module connector (1).

  13. Connect the I/P module yellow connector (1).
  14. Install the CPA (2) to the I/P module connector (1).
  15. Install the right I/P insulator panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Lower Center Pillar .

  16. Connect the vehicle wiring harness connector to the right seat belt retractor pretensioner.
  17. Install the CPA to the right seat belt retractor pretensioner connector.
  18. Install the right lower center pillar trim cover. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Lower Center Pillar .

  19. Connect the vehicle harness connector (4) to the RR side impact module yellow connector (1).
  20. Install the CPA to the RR side impact module connector (1).

  21. Connect the vehicle harness connector (4) to the RF side impact module yellow connector (1).
  22. Install the CPA to the RF side impact module connector (1).
  23. Install the Air Bag Fuse.
  24. Install the cover for the underhood fuse center.
  25. Use caution while reaching in and turning the ignition switch to the ON position. The AIR BAG indicator will flash, then turn OFF.
  26. Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle, if the AIR BAG warning indicator does not operate as described. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle .
