Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System (L26 Static Fill) , Draining and Filling Cooling System (LY7 Static Fill)  or Draining and Filling Cooling System (L26, LY7, GE 47716 Fill) .
  2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.6 L (LY7).
  3. Remove the radiator outlet hose from the radiator outlet pipe. Refer to Radiator Hose Removing/Installing Coolant Pipe/Thermostat Housing Bolts Replacement - Outlet (3.8L)  or Radiator Hose Replacement - Outlet (3.6L) .
  4. Remove the radiator outlet pipe bracket to transmission retaining bolt (3).
  5. Remove the radiator outlet pipe bracket to thermostat housing retaining bolt (1).
  6. Remove the radiator outlet pipe from the thermostat housing.
    7. IMPORTANT: Install a new O-ring to the radiator outlet pipe.
  7. Remove the radiator outlet pipe O-ring from the radiator outlet pipe.
