Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (L26, LY7 GE 47716 Fill)  or Cooling System Draining and Filling (L26 Static Fill)  or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LY7 Static Fill)  or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LS4 GE47716 Fill)  or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LS4 Static Fill) .
  2. Reposition the accessory wiring junction block.
  3. Loosen the water pump pulley bolts.
  4. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (L26) .
  5. Remove the water pump pulley bolts.
  6. Remove the water pump pulley.
  7. Remove the power steering pump mounting bolts and reposition. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement (L26) or Power Steering Pump Replacement (LY7) or Power Steering Pump Replacement (LS4) .

  8. Remove the water pump bolts.

  9. Remove the water pump.
  10. Remove the water pump gasket.
  11. Clean and inspect the water pump gasket mating surfaces.
