1 Did you review the operation and perform the necessary inspections? Go to Step 2  Go to Symptoms - Instrument Panel, Gages and Console 
2 Open the driver door.
Does the door ajar indicator illuminate in the DIC when the driver door is opened?
Go to Step 3  Go to Door Ajar Indicator Malfunction in Doors

  1. Disconnect the BCM connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the left turn signal circuit and ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.
  3. Turn on the left turn signal.
  4. Connect a test lamp between the right turn signal circuit and ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.
  5. Turn on the right turn signal.
Does the test lamp illuminate in both cases?
Go to Step 4  Go to Step 18

  1. Connect a test lamp between the park lamp switch signal circuit and a good ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.
  2. Turn the headlamps ON.
Does the test lamp illuminate?
Go to Step 5  Go to Step 6

  1. Connect a test lamp between the key in ignition signal circuit and battery voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.
  2. Put the key in the ignition switch.
Does the test lamp illuminate?
Go to Step 7  Go to Step 8 
6 Test the park lamp switch signal circuit for an open or for a high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 23  Go to Step 15

  1. Connect a test lamp between the seat belt switch signal circuit and battery voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.
  2. Leave the driver seat belt unbuckled.
Does the test lamp illuminate?
Go to Step 23  Go to Special Tools in Seat Belts
8 Test the key in ignition ground circuit for an open or for a high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 23  Go to Step 10

  1. Connect a test lamp between the DIC signal circuit and ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.
  2. Open the drivers door.
Does the test lamp illuminate?
Go to Step 12  Go to Step 11 
10 Test the key in ignition signal circuit for an open, for a short to battery voltage, or for a high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 23  Go to Step 13 
11 Test the DIC signal circuit for an open or for a high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 23  Go to Step 14 
12 Test the vehicle speed signal circuit for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?

13 Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the ignition switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?

14 Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the DIC. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

15 Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the headlamp switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

16 Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the BCM. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

17 Repair the open in the seat belt switch signal circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you complete the repair?
Go to Step 23  -
18 Repair the open in the suspected turn signal circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you complete the repair?
Go to Step 23  -
19 Replace the headlamp switch. Refer to Multifunction, Turn Signal Switch Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
Did you complete the replacement?
Go to Step 23  -
20 Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control Systems.
Did you complete the replacement?
Go to Step 23  -
21 Replace the ignition switch. Refer to Ignition Switch Replacement 
Did you complete the replacement?
Go to Step 23  -
22 Replace the DIC. Refer to Driver Information Center Replacement .
Did you complete the replacement?
Go to Step 23  -
23 Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
Did you correct the condition?
System OK Go to Step 2
