Left Outside Rearview Automatic Day/Night Mirror Operation

The automatic day/night feature of the left outside rearview mirror is controlled by the inside rearview mirror. Inside rearview mirror supplies a low reference circuit and a signal circuit to the left outside rearview mirror. Voltage on signal circuit varies between 0.5 to 1.5 volts depending on light conditions present at inside rearview mirror. At night, with automatic day/night feature enabled, left outside rearview mirror will automatically darken with inside rearview mirror to reduce glare from headlights from behind. Voltage on signal circuit will be near 1.5 volts. In daytime, mirrors are in a normal state. Voltage on signal circuit may be less than or near 0.5 volts. For additional information on inside rearview mirror, see INSIDE AUTOMATIC DAY/NIGHT MIRROR OPERATION  . For additional information on power outside rearview mirrors, see appropriate POWER MIRRORS article.
